Rishikesh: During Char Dham Yatra, paper envelopes will be prepared as an alternative to single use plastic

Rishikesh: A meeting was organized by Municipal Commissioner Shailendra Singh Negi with women of self-help groups and Triveni Sena in connection with the preparation of paper envelopes as an alternative to single-use plastic in Municipal Commissioner’s office on Saturday. Municipal Corporation is serious to make  Rishikesh plastic-free spot during upcoming Char Dham Yatra. Rishikesh is the entrance spot of yatra.

An action plan in this regard was prepared during the meeting. According to the action plan, the Municipal Corporation Rishikesh is requesting the general public of Rishikesh to donate the newspaper, waste of their homes to the Municipal Corporation (Nagar Nigam) through garbage vehicles to cooperate in eliminating single use plastic. People who don’t want to give away free newspaper junk. The Municipal Corporation will buy newspaper waste from them and the amount will be adjusted as user charge for door-to-door garbage collection. The newspaper waste will be given by the Municipal Corporation to the women of women self-help groups so that they can prepare envelopes of different sizes and make them available in the market.
