Haridwar: Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan attended ‘The Golden Jubilee Literary Festival – Golden Continuum: Swarn Akshar-2026’ as the chief guest, an event organized to mark the completion of 50 years by DPS School, Ranipur. He inaugurated the program by lighting the ceremonial lamp and joining in the rendition of the national song, ‘Vande Mataram’. Addressing the gathering, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan remarked that the name ‘Swarn Akshar’ (Golden Letters/Characters) holds special significance. Gold symbolizes pricelessness, while *akshar* (letters/characters) serve as the medium to express the thoughts, imagination, and inner strength of the human mind. He noted that a 50-year journey represents a significant achievement and a matter of pride for any institution.

He emphasized that an institution is built not merely through classrooms and buildings, but through the contributions of students, teachers, and all those associated with it. In today’s era of technology and artificial intelligence, the role of literature has become even more vital. He pointed out that the vast information available all around us cannot be equated with true knowledge; literature teaches individuals to question, reflect, and expand their understanding. The Chief Secretary highlighted how Uttarakhand’s Himalayas, folk traditions, and cultural heritage underscore the importance of literature. He encouraged students to look beyond their prescribed curriculum, read widely, and commit to continuous learning. Appreciating the efforts of the teachers who have contributed to the school’s growth, he stated that DPS students are poised to play a pivotal role in building a developed India.

He urged the students to periodically ask themselves three questions: What have I learned? What have I contributed? And whom have I helped? He stated that while embracing modernity, it is essential to remain connected to one’s culture, traditions, and roots. On this occasion, a short film showcasing the glorious 50-year journey of DPS Ranipur was screened. Students captivated the audience with enchanting performances of various classical and cultural programs, earning thunderous applause.
