Olympic runner Rebecca murdered, ex-boyfriend accused
A horrific news is coming from the sports world. Ugandan Olympic marathon runner Rebecca Cheptegei has been murdered. Rebecca has been burnt to death. Rebecca’s ex-boyfriend is accused. According to the information, she was set on fire by sprinkling petrol. Uganda’s Olympic Committee gave this information on Thursday. In the incident, runner Cheptegei suffered 80 percent burns in an attack on her house in Endebase, Kenya, where she was training. Police is investigating the matter.

Rebecca was an excellent athlete. She represented Uganda in the marathon competition of the Paris Olympics. She had her own house in the Trans-Nzoia region on the Kenya-Uganda border. It was here that she used to train for her athletic career. According to officials, Rebecca’s ex-boyfriend Dickson Ndema Marangach hid in her house. During this time, Rebecca was in church with her children. When she returned from the church, as soon as she entered the house, Maraganch attacked her. When the runner fell on the ground, he started beating her and then sprinkled petrol on her and set her on fire. During this, she kept screaming and then after some time, she fell unconscious. Rebecca had an old dispute with her ex-boyfriend over something. Hearing Rebecca’s screams, the neighbors from nearby areas rushed to the spot. Somehow the fire was extinguished and Rebecca was taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital and admitted there. Maraganch also got slightly burnt during this. Rebecca was kept in ICU where her condition was very serious. According to the doctors, she was 80 percent burnt. After struggling for life for some time, she died.
