UK :The Administration’s Sensitive and Humane Initiative Regarding an Incident at Shri Kedarnath Dham
Rudrapryag : Shri Kedarnath Dham is situated in the high Himalayan region; pilgrims arriving here must not only traverse a long and challenging trekking route but also contend with the harsh high-altitude weather conditions. To address this, the State Government has made adequate healthcare facilities available. In connection with an unfortunate incident that occurred in the Dham area on April 22, 2026—resulting in the demise of a 69-year-old pilgrim (a resident of Gorva District, Gujarat)—certain media channels are circulating misleading, unverified, and factually baseless information.
The District Administration has clarified that on the morning of April 22, 2026, at 6:30 AM, the Police Control Room received a report stating that an individual was lying unconscious near the ‘White House’ in Kedarnath. Upon receiving this information, the District Administration—demonstrating promptness and humane sensitivity—immediately initiated relief operations. Personnel from the YMF (Youth Management Force), without wasting any time, transported the individual to the Primary Health Center in Kedarnath, where medical practitioners, following an examination, declared him dead.
Subsequently, acting with utmost sensitivity, the administration prioritized the dignified handling of the deceased’s remains. With the assistance of the YMF, the mortal remains were transported to the Kedarnath helipad. At that time, helicopter services were temporarily suspended. As soon as helicopter operations resumed, the administration immediately airlifted the body to the Jamu helipad, from where it was further transported via an ambulance to the District Hospital, Rudraprayag, for necessary further formalities.
Throughout this entire process, the District Administration has demonstrated sensitivity, swift decision-making capabilities, and a humane approach. Furthermore, an appeal has been issued urging the public not to pay heed to any unverified or misleading information, and to rely solely on information obtained from official sources. The District Administration remains fully committed to the safety, health, and comfort of the pilgrims, and every possible assistance is being provided throughout the course of the pilgrimage.
