Haldwani: (Manoj Rautela) Congress MLA Sumit Hridayesh—son of the late, stalwart leader Indira Hridayesh—held a press conference in Haldwani on Wednesday, leveling several allegations and expressing a willingness to resign from his legislative seat. Visibly emotional, he made a critical statement: “I, too, could be assassinated; my family is in danger.” He claimed that a major gang is operating within the state and that politicians’ phones are being tapped. He went so far as to suggest that his vehicle could be involved in a staged accident. Hridayesh also alluded to a terrifying plot being hatched for the upcoming Gairsain Assembly session.
He stated that a large criminal syndicate is active in the state and warned that AI could be used to create and circulate fake audio or video recordings of him. He noted that he had previously lodged complaints regarding this matter, including a written complaint submitted to the then-SSP last April and a representation made to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The allegations regarding phone tapping and other issues remain unverified, and there has been no official response from the government or administration so far. MLA Hridayesh expressed suspicion that influential individuals linked to private companies are involved in this conspiracy. Ramnagar’s Sanjay Negi and Bajpur’s Sonu Sharma were also present alongside him during the press conference. Sumit Hridayesh stated that he is even willing to give up his legislative seat to have both of them join the Congress. However, he seeks justice; he is concerned about himself and his children.
