Indian military helicopter entered its airspace near Darchula without permission : Nepal
- Darchula District pronounced is one of the nine districts of Sudurpashchim Province, and one of the seventy-seven districts of Nepal
Kathmandu/New Delhi : Nepal has claimed that an Indian military helicopter entered its airspace in Darchula without permission. It states that the helicopter was transporting a high-ranking Indian military official. Nepalese security experts have termed this a direct violation of the country’s airspace. Nepal has leveled this allegation amidst an ongoing border dispute between the two nations. Recently, a statement was made in Parliament—notably by Balen Shah—suggesting that Nepal, too, had occupied Indian territory; the Nepalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs subsequently issued a clarification regarding this.
According to a report by *The Kathmandu Post*, the incident involving the Indian military helicopter entering Nepalese airspace occurred around 10:00 AM on June 10. District administration and security agencies in Dharchula reported that the helicopter was carrying Shatrujit Singh Kapoor, the Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). Nepal claims that instead of using standard border routes, the Indian helicopter entered Nepalese airspace over Ward 1 of Byas Rural Municipality and flew directly over Chhangru village before proceeding towards the Kalapani region.
