Rishikesh: 32 Agitators Arrested Demanding CBI Enquiry of Murder of Vanantara Resort’s Female Employee

Rishikesh: The Tiranga Yatra of a group of youths demanding a CBI inquiry into the murder of a woman worker of Vanantara Resort was stopped by the police of Pauri district at the barrage border near rishikesh. Agitators were going towards Vanantara resort in talla bhogpur under Raja Ji Tiger Reserve in Pauri District.
On Tuesday, there were fierce skirmishes between the two sides. Two agitators received minor injuries. The police have arrested 32 female and male agitators from the spot. Those who have been taken to the police station Laxman Jhula from the spot including former MLA Shailendra Singh Rawat, AICC member Jayendra Ramola, Swarajya Seva Dal Uttarakhand President Ramesh Joshi, Yuva Nyay Sangharsh Samiti convenor Deepak Jatav and Arvind Hatwal.
The youth had started the Tiranga Yatra from Dobh Srikot village in Srinagar, the village of the deceased employee of Vanantara Resort. Youth were demanding justice for the late girl and a CBI probe.
As soon as the Tiranga Yatra crossed the border of Dehradun district in Rishikesh at around 12:00 noon on Tuesday, they were stopped by putting a barrier near Chila Barrage, bordering Pauri Garhwal district. Additional Superintendent of Police Pauri Shekhar Suyal, Deputy Superintendent of Police Srinagar Shyam Dutt Nautiyal, Inspector-in-Charge Laxman Jhula Vinod Gunsai were present with the heavy force. As soon as the police stopped them, the agitators got upset. They started raising slogans against the state government and the police administration. The agitators said that we are taking out a peaceful march, by stopping us in this way justice can’t be given to victim’s family.
The police officers tried to convince the agitators a lot but they remained adamant on going ahead. Former MLA from Kotdwar Shailendra Singh Rawat, who was present on the occasion, said that instead of giving justice to the daughter of the mountain, the government and the police administration are bent on suppressing the youth and women standing in its favor. Such forcible stopping of the peace march is proof of this. During Russel with police two navigators were got minor injury.
Due to the large crowd of agitators on the spot, Rishikesh Police Station in-charge Inspector Ravi Kumar Saini, SSI DP Kala and other police force were deployed near AIIMS Rishikesh border of Dehradun district. The police have arrested around 50 female and male agitators from the spot. In which mainly former MLA Shailendra Singh Rawat, Swaraj Seva Dal president Ramesh Joshi, AICC member Jayendra Ramola, Yuva Nyay Sangharsh Samiti convener Deepak Jatav, Arvind Hatwal, media in-charge Sanjay Silswal, Laxman Jhula Nagar Panchayat member Naveen Rana, Devendra Singh Rana, Renu Negi, Mamta Ramola, Sarojini Thapliyal, Kusum Joshi, Pramila Joshi, Rajendra Prasad Gairola, Harsh Vyas, Ankit Gupta etc. are included.
