Dehradun/ Gopeshwar/ Rudraprayag 18 December. After the closure of the doors of Shri Kedarnath and Shri Badrinath, Indian Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has been deployed in both the Dhams for security purposes. One platoon each of ITBP jawans has reached both the Dhams.

In view of the movement of many people there due to the gold plating of the sanctum sanctorum of Shri Kedarnath Dham last year and the ongoing large-scale reconstruction works under the master plan in both the Dhams, Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) President Ajendra Ajay had written a letter to the government to strengthen the security system. He had demanded deployment of ITBP in view of the difficult geographical conditions of the Dhams. Taking action on this, the state government had requested the Union Home Ministry for deployment of ITBP.

On the request of the state government, the Home Ministry had handed over the security of the Dhams to ITBP personnel during winter season last year. After the doors were closed again this year, the state government had requested for deployment of ITBP in the Dhams. BKTC President Ajendra Ajay has expressed gratitude to State Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for the deployment of ITBP personnel in Dhams.
