Hyderabad/Dehradun: At the country’s prestigious aviation event, “WINGS INDIA 2026,” held at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad from January 29-31, 2026, the state of Uttarakhand was awarded the prestigious national honor of “Best State for Promotion of Aviation & Ecosystem.” This award is a result of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s visionary leadership and the state government’s effective aviation policies.
The award was presented by the Union Minister of Civil Aviation. Secretary Sachin Kurve, Additional Secretary Ashish Chauhan, and Sanjay Tolia, along with many other dignitaries, were present on the occasion. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Uttarakhand government has effectively utilized the aviation sector to expand air connectivity in the state and to make the Char Dham Yatra safe, convenient, and well-organized. The expansion of helicopter services to Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri Dham, the development of heliports and helipads, and the better utilization of air resources in passenger safety, disaster management, and emergency services have become a unique identity of Uttarakhand.
During the Char Dham Yatra, easy access to darshan was provided to senior citizens, differently-abled passengers, and devotees facing time constraints through helicopter services, which was appreciated across the country. Along with this, the efforts to connect border and remote mountainous regions with the air network, the UDAN scheme, the upgradation of airstrips, and the promotion of heli-tourism were also specially appreciated on the national platform.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his happiness on this achievement, saying that this award is the result of the collective hard work of the people of Uttarakhand, the state government team, and all stakeholders associated with the aviation sector. He said that the state government is committed to making the Char Dham pilgrimage even safer, more environmentally friendly, and technologically advanced in the future, as well as making Uttarakhand a leading aviation and heli-tourism hub in the country. The Chief Minister said that this national recognition will open new opportunities for Uttarakhand in the fields of tourism, investment, employment, and infrastructure.
