USA / Delhi : Political change is happening in America for some time. The power of America will remain with Vice President Kamala Harris for some time. According to media reports, President Joe Biden is going to take anesthesia for the colonoscopy held every year late tonight.
Before this, Biden would hand over all of his presidential power to Kamala Harris, the first US Vice President of Indian origin, said White House press secretary Jane Pasky, which means that she will be acting President of America for some time in a way. Biden is the oldest person in American history to hold the presidency. Biden is going to celebrate his 79th birthday on Saturday. According to a CNN report, he went to Walter Reed Medical Center outside Washington on Friday morning, a day before his birthday. Although he gets treatment every year, but this is his first treatment after assuming the presidency in January this year. He will be sedated during the colonoscopy examination. Presidential power will be given to Harris during this time.
Even before this, Kamala Harris has done many ‘firsts’ by becoming the Vice President. She became America’s first black and first South Asian-born Vice President. According to Pasky, Harris will hold presidential power until Biden is under anesthesia, but she will work from her West Wing office. In the US, it is a routine procedure to delegate presidential power to the Vice President after the President undergoes a medical procedure where he is administered anesthesia. During the presidency of George W Bush, then Vice President Dick Cheney had to hold presidential power several times.
The right to transfer presidential power has been given under Section-3 of the 25th Amendment of the US Constitution. The President can write a letter to the President pro tempore of the House of Representatives and Senate of the US Parliament to announce the appointment of the Vice President as acting President.
