UK : Major Action in Haridwar Land Purchase Case; Charges to be Filed Against 10 Individuals

Dehradun: Significant action has been taken in the Haridwar Municipal Corporation land purchase case, in line with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s resolve of “zero tolerance” towards corruption. A detailed investigation by the Vigilance Department has found prima facie evidence substantiating allegations that the Municipal Corporation suffered financial loss through land transactions involving criminal conspiracy and fraud.

Acting on the recommendation of the State Vigilance Committee—chaired by the Chief Secretary—Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved the filing of charges against the officials, employees, and land sellers involved in the matter. Action will be taken against those found guilty during the investigation under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The individuals against whom charges will be filed include the then Municipal Commissioner Varun Chaudhary (IAS), the then Assistant Municipal Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Dayal, the then Tax Superintendent Lakshmikant Bhatt, the then Assistant Engineer and In-charge Executive Engineer Anand Singh Mishrawan, the then Property Clerk Vedpal, and the then Draftsman Dinesh Kandpal. Additionally, charges will be filed against land sellers and other associated individuals, namely Suman Devi, Jitendra Kumar, Abhishek Yadav, and Sujit Kumar Singh. The state government has made it clear that no one involved in corruption or irregularities will be spared. The government’s priority is to ensure a transparent, accountable, and corruption-free administration, and the strictest action will continue to be taken against the guilty.
