The Much Awaited, the meeting of US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin concluded in Alaska. Both met around 1 am of the Indian time. This meeting focused on the Ukraine War was described as fruitful. Putin suggested to hold the next meeting in Moscow, while Trump announced to contact NATO and Ukrainian President Zelensky soon.

In the press conference, Putin said that the conversation went well and if Trump had been president in 2022, the conflict would not have started. Describing the US and Russia as “close neighbors”, he talked about strengthening shared history and relations. Putin stressed on no European interference in peace efforts and suggested holding the next meeting in Moscow.
At the same time, Trump said that some issues could not be agreed upon, but the conversation was fruitful. Describing Putin as a “smart person”, he said that soon NATO and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would be called and informed about the meeting. Trump warned that if the war did not stop, Russia would have to face serious economic consequences.
The meeting was also attended by the foreign ministers and senior advisers of both countries. This was the first time a Russian president arrived at a US military base. Tight security arrangements were made and everything from hotels to air routes were changed in the city of Anchorage.

Overall, this meeting is being considered an important step towards bringing peace in Ukraine.
