Shillong: According to the DGP of Meghalaya Police, five people including Raja Raghuvanshi’s wife have been arrested in the murder case. Sonam herself had booked the ticket to Meghalaya. The mystery of Indore’s Raja Raghuvanshi murder case is now slowly getting solved. Meghalaya police, while revealing the whole case, said that Raja Raghuvanshi was murdered by his wife Sonam. After the murder, Sonam fled from Meghalaya to Ghazipur and surrendered under pressure. Meghalaya’s DGP said that five people including Sonam have been arrested in this case.
Police have claimed that Sonam had an affair with a man named Raj Kushwaha, while she was married to Raja Raghuvanshi. They said that she conspired to commit the murder along with her lover Raj Kushwaha. Initial investigation has also revealed that Sonam often talked to Raj Kushwaha. Officials have also found CCTV footage, in which three to four people from Madhya Pradesh have been identified as the killers. According to news agency ANI, Prestone Tynsong said on the Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam Raghuvanshi case, Four people have been arrested. Sonam has surrendered in UP, so the number has gone up to five. We are in the process of bringing her to Shillong for further investigation… These days they are blaming the people and government of Meghalaya. Since we have already arrested the accused, everything will become clear to them and one day they will have to withdraw their statements against Meghalaya… Meghalaya is safe, and they need to learn not to jump to conclusions without getting all the facts and details. This creates confusion… Our police force has performed exceptionally well and the police and our government, including the Chief Minister, all hardly got any sleep as we wanted to solve this mystery as soon as possible. Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotiya told reporters that three suspects in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case have been detained in a joint operation conducted by Indore Police and Meghalaya Police on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. He said that these suspects, residents of Indore, have been identified as Raj Kushwaha, Vishal Chauhan and Akash Rajput. Dandotiya said that two of these people were caught from Indore, while another person was detained near this city. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police said, “Meghalaya Police is interrogating the three suspects. Meghalaya Police will take the next step based on the facts found in the interrogation.” He said that the fourth suspect in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, Anand, is absconding and is being searched.
Dandotiya said that Raja Raghuvanshi’s wife Sonam (25) has been found in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh. He said that Sonam, who had gone to Meghalaya with her husband for honeymoon, had last spoken to her mother-in-law on the phone on May 23, after which she lost contact with the family. Officials said that Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam, who had gone to Meghalaya for honeymoon, went missing on May 23. He said that Raja Raghuvanshi’s body was found in a deep gorge near a waterfall in Sohra area (also known as Cherrapunji) of East Khasi Hills district on June 2.
Raja Raghuvanshi’s family is involved in the transport business. Raja married Sonam on May 11 in Indore and they left for Meghalaya for honeymoon on May 20. Officials said that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Meghalaya Police is investigating the murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi in detail.
