Rishikesh : On behalf of the Rishikesh-Gurdwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha, a grand Nagar Kirtan was taken out in the city on the occasion of the holy light festival of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj.
Municipal Corporation Mayor Anita Mamgain prayed for the prosperity of the city by performing a special aarti of Guru Maharaj on this auspicious occasion. Congratulating the townspeople on the occasion of Guru Parv, he said that the first Guru of the Sikh sect, Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj is a unique symbol of India’s rich saint tradition. His teachings, thoughts and his determination to serve humanity is an inspiration for us. The teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji always inspire us to remove discrimination from mankind.
The major attraction of Nagar Kirtan was the ‘Gatka party’ in which the soldiers performed sword fighting and various feats. Women were walking with reverence in Nagar Kirtan, which started from Guru Nanak Public School on Railway Road. Various types of bands, children riding horses were the center of attraction in Nagar Kirtan. Here, Singh Sabha Gurdwara and main market were decorated with colorful lights for Nagar Kirtan. Wednesday was the day in the name of Guruvani in the pilgrimage city. During Nagar Kirtan, the city of Dharma was seen painted in the colors of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj, the first Guru of the Sikhs.
Nagar Kirtan was taken out in the city on the 552nd Prakash Utsav of the first Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj. During this, various organizations welcomed Nagar Kirtan. The astonishing feats of the Gatka team in Nagar Kirtan took everyone by surprise. The Kirtan group from the railway route went out on the city parikrama through various routes. During this, religious, business and social organizations gave a grand welcome to Nagar Kirtan at different places. Under the leadership of Panch Pyaras, the self-spoken jathas made the sangat happy by presenting beautiful guruvani.
On this occasion Sardar Govind Singh, S. Buta Singh, S. Manga Singh, S. Paramjit Singh Mang, Kanwaljit Singh Sethi, S. Iqbal Singh, Councilor Ajit Goldie, Gurvinder Singh, Anita Raina, Bharat Bhushan Rawal, S. Himmat Singh, S. Satendra Singh, S. Satish Singh, S. Preetpal Singh Jassal, S. Ajit Singh, Amandeep Singh, etc. were present.
