Rishikesh: On Tuesday, a meeting was held at the Municipal Corporation office, ISBT complex, chaired by Mayor Shambhu Paswan. The main objective of this meeting was to review the progress of various development projects funded by KFW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau), the German bank, and to issue necessary guidelines for their timely implementation. The meeting discussed in detail the current status of sewerage treatment, street lighting, procurement of cleaning equipment, and other infrastructure development works proposed in the city under the KFW German-funded scheme. Emphasis was placed on establishing better coordination between UUSDA and local bodies to ensure the city’s development in accordance with international standards. It is worth noting that projects worth Rs. 1800 crore, funded by the KFW German bank, are proposed in Rishikesh, Muni Ki Reti, Tapovan, and Swargashram Jonk areas.

Mayor Paswan gave strict instructions to the concerned officials and implementing agencies to complete all development works within the stipulated time frame and with high quality. He made it clear that any delay or negligence in the development works would not be tolerated. The mayor said that the main objective of these projects is to provide better civic amenities to the city residents and to develop modern infrastructure while also protecting the environment. Earlier this month, in the first week, a review meeting was held, of the Integrated Development Plan projects in Rishikesh city and the surrounding area, funded by the German bank KfW, was conducted. The municipal corporation i.e. Gopal Ram Biwnwal, Muncipal Commissioner, had expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work by the implementing agency. At today’s meeting these were i.e.  Assistant Municipal Commissioner Chandrakant Bhatt, Project Manager Jatin Singh Saini, Assistant Engineer MDDA Abhishek Bhardwaj, Forest Ranger Sunil Bhadula, Deepak Sharma and Vikram Singh from Nagar Panchayat Swargashram, Dr. Vinay Rathi, Dharmendra Prasad, and other senior officers and departmental staff.

Here is the  work is to be done under the plan-
Under the plan, beautification of the flood protection embankments on both sides of the Chandrabhaga river in the city, on the lines of the Aastha Path, construction of a multi-storey building and underground parking for 400 buses in the ISBT complex, and extension of sewer lines in four wards of the municipal corporation area are to be undertaken.
