Rishikesh: The five-day National Biomedical Research Annual Competition, under the aegis of Society of Young Biomedical Scientists, India, duly started at All India Institute of Medical Sciences [AIIMS] Rishikesh. About 500 scientists and doctors are participating in this competition of young scientists from the across the country.

On Monday, Professor Arvind Rajvanshi, Director of the Institute at AIIMS, Rishikesh, Prof. Dulal Panda, Director of Research and Development, JNU Delhi Prof. Praveen Kumar Verma, AIIMS Rishikesh Prof. Shailendra Handu, Head of the Department of Gynecology, Prof. Jaya Chaturvedi, Organizing Committee President Dr. Balram G Omar, Convener of the competition Dr. Puneet Dhamija, Dr. Ruchika Rani duly inaugurated the five-day competition. On this occasion AIIMS Director Prof. Arvind Rajvanshi congratulated the society for organizing the national competition. He said that such platforms and competitions encourage the youth towards research. The Head of the Department of Pharmacology, AIIMS, Prof. Shailendra Handu said that this national competition related to promotion of research was first organized in the year 2018 at AIIMS Rishikesh itself.

Rohitash Yadav, president of the Society of Young Biomedical Scientists, said that the National Biomedical Research Society was launched in 2018. The purpose of which is to encourage young students and research scholars towards research. He said that since the year 2018, the society has been organizing National Biomedical Research Competition every year for this. He said that about five hundred researchers, child scientists and doctors from across the country are participating in the third National Biomedical Research Competition on Monday. Out of this 300 researchers have been selected to present their research on the platform.

The first day on Monday was presented by 75 research researchers. Society President Yadav said that this national research competition is being jointly organized by AIIMS Rishikesh, JNU Delhi, PGI Chandigarh, NIPER Mohali, CDRI Lucknow, IITR Lucknow and AIIMS Jodhpur. He informed that Punjab National Bank has cooperated as a banking partner to promote science and research in organizing the competition. For this, in the inaugural program, Jaspal Singh Rajput, Circle Head of PNB Dehradun and Gajendra Chaudhary, Chief Manager of PNB AIIMS Pashulok Rishikesh were honored by presenting mementos on behalf of the Society. At the inauguration of the competition, the chairman of the organizing committee, Dr. Balram G. Omar, the convener of the competition, Dr. Puneet Dhamija, Dr. K.S. Dr. Ravi, Dr. Namrata Gaur, Dr. Vinod, Dr. Ruchika Rani, Dr. Jitendra Kumar Choudhary, Dr. Avnish Kumar, doctors and faculty members of different departments of AIIMS were present.
