Rishikesh: Covid screening OPD started in AIIMS, testing will be done daily from 9 am to 5 pm

In view of possible corona infection, the institute took steps

Rishikesh: In view of the possible infection of Corona virus, Covid Screening OPD has been started in AIIMS Rishikesh. Covid test of every suspected patient will also be done through flu clinic in this OPD area established in front of the trauma center of the institute.

AIIMS Rishikesh is fully prepared to fight the possible spread of Corona virus infection. In this regard, along with starting the screening OPD, the institute has also reserved 6 beds for emergency Covid infected patients.It is noteworthy that during the last few days, some new cases of JN.1 sub-form of corona virus have been reported in different areas of the country. However, not a single case of a patient suffering from the new Corona virus has come to light in Uttarakhand yet. But as a precautionary measure, AIIMS Rishikesh has started Covid testing facility for suspected patients while intensifying the health safety measures.

In this regard, AIIMS Public Relations Officer Sandeep Kumar Singh said that as per the guidelines of the institute’s Director Professor Meenu Singh, this step has been taken by the hospital administration to screen Covid suspected patients. He told that Medical Superintendent of AIIMS, Professor R.B. Kalia had taken a meeting of the concerned departments in this regard a day earlier. During the meeting Prof. Kalia had asked to screen every Covid suspected person arriving at the hospital. In compliance, a Covid screening OPD area has been created in front of the Trauma Center to check for corona infection. In this OPD, health check-up of Covid suspected and flu patients will be done daily from 9 am to 5 pm. It has been named ‘Flu Clinic’. He said that during the last wave of Corona, it was seen that the Corona virus is adept at changing its form, therefore, in the flu clinic, every patient who is affected by symptoms like cough, fever, cold and cough will be examined. If necessary, Covid sample of such suspected patient will also be taken and sent for testing.

The Public Relations Officer said that people suspected of having Covid emergency who reach the hospital after the scheduled OPD time of 5 pm in the flu clinic, will have the facility to get tested in the medicine emergency of the hospital. He also informed that due to possible infection of Corona virus, 6 beds in the geriatric ward of the hospital have been reserved for Covid suspected patients. Here, patients suspected of Covid emergency will be admitted for treatment.
