Rishikesh: A two-day international conference on Craniofacial Surgery was organized at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, (AIIMS) Rishikesh. In which experts gathered from India and abroad informed the participants about many important information related to craniofacial surgery and shared their experiences with them.

Executive Director of AIIMS, Rishikesh, Professor Dr. Meenu Singh and Dean (Academic) Prof. Dean (Research) of the conference based on Craniofacial Surgery organized under the auspices of the Department of Burn and Plastic Surgery under the supervision of Jaya Chaturvedi, Prof. Shailendra Shankar Handu and Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Prof. R.B. Kalia formally inaugurated the event by jointly lighting the lamp.On this occasion, Dean (Research) SS Handu gave information related to subject based courses and also said that such events are absolutely necessary to get acquainted with each other’s experiences and in the interest of patients. MS Prof. RB Kalia appreciated the conference organized by the Department of Burn and Plastic Surgery of the institute and described it as a constructive program to share each other’s knowledge and experience.

On this occasion, plastic surgery expert doctors from India and abroad presented a series of lectures on the subject of Craniofacial Surgery. He described the program as providing an important platform for knowledge enrichment and skill development in the specialized field of plastic surgery.The conference was started under the leadership of local experts related to the subject of plastic surgery. Course Director and Additional Professor of the Department of Plastic Medicine, Dr. Madhubhari Vathulya led the Craniofacial Deformity course and presented information related to it. He told that this surgery is done in those children whose head and facial bones are abnormal. Therefore, abnormal bone can be corrected through surgery.

On this occasion, Professor Vishal Mago, Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery, AIIMS Rishikesh, told that this surgery is being done by the Department of Plastic Surgery at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rishikesh since 2017, due to which hundreds of patients have benefited from it till now. In the conference, internationally renowned experts shared their experiences through lectures. These include Prof. from Maastricht, Netherlands. Dr. Peter Kessler and Dr. Timmer, Prof. from Mumbai. Nitin Mokal, Prof. from Panchkula. Ramesh Kumar Sharma, Dr. Sunil Chaudhary from New Delhi, Prof. from Safdarjung Hospital. Rakesh Kain and Dr. Tarun Sharma of Seema Dental College were prominently involved. He shared his experiences with the participants and explained about the latest advancements in the field of craniofacial surgery.

Hands on workshop was organized as part of the conference. In which the doctors and senior residents present in the workshop were experimented on through dummy experiment. In the conference, Head of the Department Prof. Apart from Vishal Mago, Dr. Debarati Chattopadhyay, Dr. Akshay Kapoor, Dr. Neeraj, Prof. Sanjay Sadhu, Dr. Tarun Jain etc. of Indresh Hospital Dehradun participated.
