Rishikesh: Members of Resident Doctors Association (RDA) at AIIMS Rishikesh organized a candle march on Saturday against the rape and murder of a female postgraduate resident doctor at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata. Through this march, the doctors expressed their anger and condolences towards this heinous crime.

According to RDA AIIMS Rishikesh, this horrific incident is not only a violation of the dignity and rights of a female doctor, but it is also raising concerns across the country regarding the safety of female health professionals. The doctors emphasized that such attacks on the sanctity of medical institutions are unacceptable and have a profound impact on society. The doctors involved in the rally demanded a quick and fair investigation from the West Bengal government and RG Kar Medical College authorities, so that the culprits can be brought to justice as soon as possible. Along with this, they called for further strengthening of security measures in medical institutions. The doctors said that it has now become necessary to improve the surveillance system, provide proper lighting in the premises and establish strict protocols for the safety of women.

RDA AIIMS Rishikesh expressed its condolences to the victim’s family and colleagues in this difficult time and said that they are committed to seeking justice in this case. They have also sent a memorandum to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, demanding justice for the victim’s family and urging to take strict measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents. This incident has raised deep concerns about the safety of women doctors and health workers across the country, and the doctors of AIIMS Rishikesh have resolved to take concrete steps towards improving this issue. On this occasion, doctors like Dr. Sawan Dalal, Dr. Rajat Sharma, Dr. Karthik, Dr. CH Jagpati Babu, Dr. Namita, Dr. Aniket Gaur, Dr. Prakhar, Dr. Vidhu, Dr. Deepak Kumar, Dr. Pranshu, Dr. Manisha, Dr. P. Ajit Kumar, Dr. Vinayak Kaushik were present.

Vicitm, A woman postgraduate trainee doctor was found partially clothed inside a seminar hall of the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Friday. The autopsy report showed signs of sexual assault before she was killed between 3:00 am and 6:00 am. The chest medicine department student had been on duty on Thursday night.There was bleeding from both her eyes and mouth, injuries over the face, and a nail. The victim was also bleeding from her private parts. She also has injuries in her belly, left leg, neck, in her right hand, ring finger, and lips, The victim was on night duty on Thursday and had last spoken with her mother over the phone around 11.15 pm.
