Missing woman’s body found in Rishikesh, Assam Congress President writes letter to CM Dhami

Dehradun/Rishikesh/Guwahati: A few days ago, the body of a young woman was found near Rishikesh on the banks of the Ganges. The girl was a resident of Assam. She had come to visit Shivpuri area with her two friends. The matter has now reached the Chief Minister. In the case, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Gaurav Gogoi has written a letter to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami urging a quick inquiry into the death of the Assam girl.

Let us tell you, the body of the woman was found near Rishikesh on the banks of the Ganges. The woman, Rosmita Hojai, was a resident of Dima Hasao district of Assam. She had gone to Delhi to take the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) exam and later went to Rishikesh with two other persons. She went missing from Rishikesh on June 6. Her body was recovered from the Ganges river five days later. Now the matter reached Gogoi in Assam. Gogoi said in the letter that the circumstances of the woman’s disappearance and then death are extremely disturbing. There is huge outrage among the woman’s family, friends and community in Assam. He urged CM Dhami to conduct a quick, transparent and fair investigation into the matter so that all aspects can be investigated and if anyone is found to have criminal involvement, he can be punished according to the law. The letter said that it is of utmost importance to ensure the safety of all persons, especially those who travel from other states for educational and professional opportunities. He requested the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand to personally intervene in the matter and direct the concerned officials to expedite the investigation process so that Rosmita Hojai and her bereaved family get justice.

Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma had also written a letter to Dhami urging him to ensure a comprehensive and timely investigation of the case. The Chief Minister said that if anyone’s criminal role is found, then the concerned persons should be identified and arrested and legal action should be taken so that the woman can get justice.
