Hapur : Meghalaya BJP Leader Accused of Running ‘Brothel’ Arrested in Uttar Pradesh, Cught during Vehicle Checking
UP : BJP’s Vice-President in Meghalaya, Bernard N Marak has been arrested in Hapur district in Uttar Pradesh. He is accused of running a ‘brothel’ in the farmhouse. He was absconding since Saturday. Meghalaya DGP LR Bishnoi said Marak was arrested from Hapur district. Meghalaya Police had issued an alert to trace them. Marak was arrested while checking vehicles on the national highway.
A day earlier, the Tura Court had issued a non-bailable warrant against him. On Saturday, West Garo Hills district police claimed they raided a building in Barnard’s. During this five children were rescued, including a minor girl. Apart from this, 75 people were arrested. West Garo Hills Police Chief Vivekananda Singh Rathor had told Hindustan Times on Saturday that the materials and its design found from the BJP leader’s farmhouse suggest that Bernard N Marak used it “to run a brothel”. However, the BJP says that all these allegations are being made only out of political vendetta. This is a conspiracy of the National People’s Party government. We learned that an attempt was being made to tarnish Bernard’s image. Bernard has also been the chairman of the rebel group Achik National Volunteer Council. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on BJP’s allegations, said, ‘It is a matter of police, I do not want to say anything in it. Police is taking action as soon as the evidence is available. All the proceedings are going on through the legal process. There is no politics in this. I want to assure you that whatever action is taken will be in accordance with the law.
