Haldwani : Death sentence to son for killing mother in Chorgaliya

Haldwani : The first Additional District and Sessions Judge Preetu Sharma has sentenced the son accused of killing the mother to the death penalty and a fine of ten thousand rupees, considering him guilty under section 302.

In default of payment of fine, he shall undergo further imprisonment for one year. Whereas on the charge of section 307 of murderous assault, he was sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of five thousand rupees. In default of payment of fine, he shall undergo additional imprisonment of 6 months.

According to the prosecution, Digar Singh Koranga, a resident of Gaulapar Chorgalia, Udaipur, was accused of killing his own mother Jomati Devi with a rag at home. Jomati Devi’s head was severed from her torso. Not only this, during the rescue, there was an allegation of attacking other people with an ax. In this case, the police arrested Digar Singh Koranga and sent him to judicial custody. During the hearing in the court, District Government Advocate Faujdari Sushil Kumar Sharma presented 12 witnesses. These included the father, daughter-in-law and neighbors of the accused. He argued during the argument that the plaintiff Udaipur resident Soban Singh lodged a report against his son Digar Singh in the police station Chorgalia on 7 October 2019.

In which it was said that Jomati Devi was at home, while he was working in the neighbourhood. At the same time Digar Singh had a dispute with his mother Jomati. On this Digar Singh separated the mother’s head from the torso with a rag. Jomati Devi died on the spot. Pradhan Inderjit Singh informed the police about the incident. When the police took action to arrest the accused Digar Singh, he attacked the people present and Inderjit Singh also with an ax.
