Delhi : Rohini court blast case: Police arrested DRDO scientist, wanted to kill lawyer

New Delhi : The police on Saturday arrested a DRDO scientist in connection with the blast that took place inside the Rohini district court in the capital Delhi. According to the police, the arrested scientist is accused of trying to kill a lawyer by planting a tiffin bomb in the court. The lawyer who was tried to kill was about to attend a court hearing.
On 9th of the same month a low intensity blast took place in the Rohini district court. A police personnel was injured in the incident. Police said that the arrested accused Bharat Bhushan Kataria works as a scientist in the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).
According to the India Today report, preliminary investigation has revealed that the scientist was having a long legal battle with advocate Amit Vashisht. The lawyer had registered seven cases against the accused while Bhushan had registered five cases against the lawyer. The legal battle between the two was going on for a few years.
Bhushan’s neighbor lawyer had also filed a vigilance complaint against him. According to the police, the accused was involved in the trial with the lawyer. Police said that he himself had made a bomb and kept it in court room number 102. During interrogation, the scientist has confessed to the police that he wanted to kill the lawyer and hence planted the IED. The Northern Range of Delhi Police’s Special Cell is investigating with the additional help of two Specialized Units.
Talking to the media about the incident, Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said that since the blast happened right after the Rohini court shootout, we had to make all efforts. The police had identified all the cars that entered the court premises on December 9 to identify the cars.
