The Congress on Saturday alleged that the ‘Operation Lotus’ of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jharkhand has been exposed after a large amount of cash was recovered from the car of its three MLAs in Howrah, West Bengal.

The Congress has been accusing the BJP that it is trying to demolish its coalition government in Jharkhand. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said on Twitter, the BJP’s ‘Operation Lotus’ in Jharkhand was exposed to Howrah tonight. Howrah Superintendent of Police (Rural) Swati Bhangalia said, “We had special information that a large amount of money was being carried in a black car.” We started investigating vehicles and stopped this SUV, in which three MLAs from Jharkhand were traveling. A large quantity of cash was found in the vehicle.

He said, cash counting machines are being brought to find out the total amount. MLAs are also being questioned about the source of money where it is being taken. Police said that apart from MLAs, the SUV also had two other people, on which the Congress election symbol was accompanied by a board of MLA Jamtara Jharkhand. Ansari is an MLA from Jamtara, while Kachhap is an MLA from Khizari in Ranchi district and Kongari is an MLA from Kolebira in Simdega district.

The Jharkhand Congress claimed that a large amount of cash was part of the conspiracy by the BJP to demolish the Hemant Soren government.
