New Delhi: As the assembly elections are approaching in many states, the leaders of political parties have started shifting from here to there. Many are in danger of losing their political ground, while the aims and ambitions of many have started to shake. In the same sequence, now TMC is continuously giving a blow to the Congress.

After former Janata Dal United (JDU) leader Pavan Verma, former cricketer and Congress leader Kriti Azad, his wife Poonam Azad and former Haryana Congress leader Ashok Tanwar also joined the Trinamool Congress (TNC) on Tuesday. TMC President and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is on Delhi tour. Meanwhile, these leaders have joined the party. Kirti Azad was a member of the 1983 Cricket World Cup winning team. In December 2015, he was suspended from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for openly targeting the then Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over alleged irregularities and corruption in the Delhi and District Cricket Association. He had joined Congress in 2018. Azad was elected to the Lok Sabha thrice from the Darbhanga parliamentary seat in Bihar.

In 2014, he contested the general elections on a BJP ticket. After joining TMC, Kirti Azad said that Mamta Banerjee has fought on the ground. I too have always tried that the fight for the people should be fought directly on the ground. I will fight against those who are working to divide the country. Former Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ashok Tanwar had to part ways with the Congress after he alleged money transactions in ticket distribution ahead of the 2019 Haryana Assembly elections. After leaving the Congress, he formed his own party “Apna Bharat Morcha” in February this year.

He has also been an MP from Haryana’s Sirsa Lok Sabha seat and was once considered close to Rahul Gandhi. Sources say that after joining the Trinamool Congress, Tanwar can now be given the responsibility of leadership of the party in Haryana. Former general secretary of Janata Dal (United) Pavan Verma, a former advisor to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and a former Rajya Sabha member, was expelled from the ruling JD(U) in the state in 2020. Pavan Varma said that I have joined TMC. After going deep after leaving JDU, it seems to me, looking at today’s political situation, that a strong opposition is a must in any democracy. It is necessary to challenge the government in a democratic manner.

I hope that in the year 2024, Mamata Banerjee will be in Delhi after winning the national elections. In the coming days, many leaders may move from here to there. It remains to be seen who goes to which party, who leaves which party.
