Delhi: Defense Ministry’s big decision, not experiment, now women fighter pilots will be permanent in the Air Force
New Delhi: The Defense Ministry has decided to change the experimental plan to induct women fighter pilots in the Indian Air Force into a permanent one. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Tuesday that this decision is a testament to the potential of India’s women power and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment towards women empowerment.
“The Ministry of Defense (MoD) has decided to convert the pilot plan to induct women fighter pilots in the Indian Air Force into a permanent one,” she tweeted. “This is a testament to the potential of India’s ‘Nari Shakti’ and our Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to women’s empowerment,” the Defense Minister said.
The Supreme Court had given an important decision-
The decision came months after the Supreme Court paved the way for women’s entry into the prestigious National Defense Academy (NDA), which has been a stronghold of men for recruitment into the three services. In 2018, Indian Air Force Flying Officer Avani Chaturvedi created history by becoming the first Indian woman to fly a fighter plane solo. She had flown a MiG-21 Bison in his first solo flight.
