Delhi: 16 Youtube channels banned, 6 from Pakistan

New Delhi : The government on Monday banned a Facebook account and 16 YouTube channels for spreading misinformation related to the country’s national security, foreign relations and public order. Of these channels, 6 were operating from Pakistan.

This information was given in an official statement. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said in a statement that the total viewership of the banned YouTube channels and Facebook accounts was more than 68 crore and these channels and accounts “disturbed public order in India and disturbed communal harmony”.

They were spreading false, unverified information to create and create an atmosphere of fear. “None of these digital news publishers had furnished the necessary information to the Ministry under Rule 18 of the Information Technology Rules, 2021,” it said.
