Chandigarh : IPS officer suspended by Haryana Govt. with immediate effect in multi crore theft case in Gurugram

Chandigarh : The Haryana government on Friday suspended an IPS officer with immediate effect, days after he was asked to join the investigation based on the confession of an accused in a multi-crore theft case in Gurugram. Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Dheeraj Kumar, posted as the commandant of the 3rd India Reserve Battalion in Rohtak’s Sunaria, was asked to join the investigation.

The order issued by the Home Department said that during his suspension, Kumar’s headquarters would be the office of the Director General of Police (Police Headquarters) located at Panchkula. However, the reason for the suspension has not been given in the order. Kumar was earlier posted as the Commissioner of Police, Gurugram. Sources said that two people have been arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit theft. They said that in August this year crores of rupees were stolen from the company’s office located in the residential society of Sector 82 of Special Task Force (STF), Gurugram. Investigating.

He said that the names of some people, including a Delhi Police officer, have also come up during the investigation and they have already been arrested. Inspector General of Police (STF) Mamta Singh told over phone on Friday that two notices have been sent to Kumar asking him to join the investigation.

He said that on the basis of the confession of the accused, a case was registered last month under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
