Rishikesh: Today’s world needs Ayurveda because it focuses on holistic health, emphasizing the balance of mind, body, and spirit, rather than simply treating symptoms. It prevents and treats diseases through natural remedies, nutrition, and lifestyle changes, enabling a healthy, happy, and balanced life. Furthermore, Ayurveda helps provide an equitable approach to healthcare. Dr. D.K. Srivastava, an international Ayurveda expert from the Navjeevanam Ayurveda Institute in Rishikesh, expressed this view upon returning home after successfully completing a month-long Ayurveda workshop in Europe. He shared his experiences during his visit to many countries in Europe. Dr. Srivastava spent the past month participating in various Ayurveda programs organized by the European Education for Ayurveda in Holland (Netherlands), Belgium, and Germany. Dr. Srivastava also organized India’s National Ayurveda Day on September 23rd in Berlin, the capital of Germany, and Hulst, the Netherlands, to educate the people there about the usefulness of Ayurveda for a healthy life and the research and health programs being conducted by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.
This generated considerable interest and appreciation among European citizens, leading to a recognition of the importance of Ayurveda for holistic health in the future. Today, medical scientists worldwide and the World Health Organization are emphasizing Ayurveda as a holistic health approach that focuses on the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), offering a holistic and balanced approach distinct from modern medicine. The WHO has recognized Ayurveda as a medical system, promoting its global acceptance and integration. Ayurveda not only treats illnesses but also emphasizes disease prevention through lifestyle changes, nutrition, and herbal remedies. Dr. Srivastava explained that the principles of Ayurveda promote an equitable approach to healthcare and offer an alternative to the growing influence of the pharmaceutical industry, making it more accessible and balanced.
Panchakarma practitioner and herbalist Dr. Nivedita Srivastava, who has also lectured at workshops in Europe, explained that Ayurveda utilizes herbs, minerals, and other natural resources, making it an attractive option for those seeking natural remedies. The Ayurvedic approach recognizes the link between human health and the environment, which is crucial for a holistic and sustainable future. Dr. DK Srivastava has been invited to various countries for Ayurveda lectures and treatment for the past several years, where he has been bringing glory to India by successfully fulfilling his vision and mission of *Ayurvedam Sharanam Gachhami*. Dr. DP Valodi, President of Rishikesh Ayurveda Doctors Association and all the doctors welcomed and honored Dr. Srivastava for successfully bringing glory to Ayurveda, Uttarakhand and India.
