Uttarkashi : Its Tragic…On Sunday morning, a part of the tunnel caved in due to a landslide inside the tunnel under construction on Yamunotri National Highway, after which there was chaos. Information was received that 36 laborers were trapped inside the tunnel. After this relief and rescue work started.
Now the workers trapped in the tunnel have also shown courage. Rajesh Panwar, project manager of Navyug Construction Company, which built the tunnel, said that the workers trapped inside the tunnel have started running the motor and released water from the pipe, due to which all the workers are expected to be safe. Landslide debris is also being removed. Jal Sansthan’s vertical drilling machine has also arrived. It is expected that much of the debris will be removed by Sunday night.
Relief and rescue operations are going on rapidly to rescue the workers trapped inside the tunnel under construction in Silkiara. Oxygen is being supplied to the trapped laborers through pipes laid for water. At the same time, helpline number 7455991223 related to rescue has been issued. The work of removing debris from the tunnel and making an escape passage to rescue the trapped workers is continuing on a war footing.
District Magistrate Abhishek Ruhela, Superintendent of Police Arpan Yaduvanshi, Chief Development Officer Gaurav Kumar, Additional District Magistrate Teerth Pal Singh, Deputy District Magistrate Dunda Brijesh Kumar Tiwari, Deputy District Magistrate Barkot Mukesh Chand Ramola are present at the spot.
