Narendranagar: Administration has cancelled the permission to orgasnise Sun Burn Festival near by Rishikesh.  This Year Sunburn program to be organized in Nirganga Resort of Nir village of Tehri district on 28th and 29th September has been cancelled by SDM Narendranagar Devendra Singh Negi due to opposition from saints and social workers. As it was becoming of Law & Order as he said during meeting. In this matter, representatives of Hindu organizations, saints and young social workers met SDM Devendra Singh Negi in Narendranagar on Friday. During this, a memorandum was handed over to him. This festival was to be held on 28 and 29 September. People came to know about the performance of this program when they saw the flamboyant and glittering glimpses of the vulgar promotion of the Sunburn program on the Internet. In this, a foreign female DJ was seen promoting by saying ‘Aao Rishikesh’. Later that female DJ deleted her video.

In fact, it was clear from the presentations of the Sunburn program on the Internet that this area with picturesque mountain ranges, known as the holy land of the Himalayas, from where not only the people of the country but also the foreigners consider themselves blessed after seeing the world famous holy Ganga Maa flowing from there. Therefore, it is not appropriate to hold this program in any form at such a place. In such a situation, the youth would again go on the wrong path. Every year someone or the other organizes such events. What message does it send to society, culture and the country and the world and does it fall in the category of sin… this is what young social worker Bhuvaneshwar Prasad Bhardwaj says. Bhardwaj was the first to notice it and after that the way forward was made. Rishikesh, known as the yoga city and religious city of Devbhoomi, has a gathering of saints on the banks of the Ganga in every season. In Hinduism, the status of Ganga as Mokshadayini is considered even higher than that of a mother. In such a situation, organizing such programs and displaying them at the holy places of Hindu customs was bound to be opposed. Because such programs would definitely hurt Hindu culture and civilization. The image of Rishikesh and the surrounding areas would also get tarnished. Therefore, a delegation of saints and social workers from Rishikesh, Muni ki Reti, Tapovan met Narendra Nagar SDM Devendra Singh Negi and handed over a memorandum to the SDM regarding the cancellation of Sunburn program on 28 and 29 September. After the talks, SDM Narendranagar said that the Sunburn program has been cancelled. While handing over the memorandum, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Dayaram Das, Purushottam Kothari, Dharmacharya, VHP, youth social worker from Rishikesh Bhuvaneshwar Prasad Bhardwaj, Shubham Nautiyal, Rajendra Prasad Pandey, District President, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Usha Kothari, Vinod Kuliyal, Rajesh, Nitish Chandra Khanduri, Acharya Purushottam and Anand Bahuguna etc. were present in the delegation.Who said what in opposition to this festival –
Mahamandaleshwar Dayaramdas Maharaj said that we will oppose it. Because this is the land of saints. Good work should be done here. We will not tolerate this kind of western culture and vulgarity. We are thankful to SDM sahab, he has cancelled its permission. We came to Narendranagar today to submit a memorandum to him. If this program still takes place then the Sadhu community will strongly oppose it.
Rajendra Prasad Pandey, District President BHU, SDM sahab said that we have cancelled the permission that we had given. Now this event will not take place. We hope that such programs do not get permission in future too. Tapovan is a peaceful place, we oppose such programs. With this hope and expectation we came and submitted a memorandum to the SDM.
Young social worker Bhuvaneshwar Prasad Bhardwaj said, this was to happen on 28, 29, it was to be a night program. This was a high level program. Nudity, alcohol, everything would be served in it. Youth would be attracted towards it. It would spoil the society. Vishva Hindu Parishad, Hindu Vahini, and Bajrang Dal all came. They opposed this program. It is not right to organize luxurious programs at this place. Maharaj ji has also supported the protest. This comes under the category of sin. This is the land of saints, the land of penance. Do not make it Goa, Manali. Let it remain a pilgrimage place because people come here for meditation, yoga and tapasya. We will not let it get ruined.

Purushottam Kothari, District Dharmacharya, VHP said, Tapovan is a place of peace. The views of the mountains are good here. Maa Ganga flows below, the view is picturesque. This is the land of penance and tapasya. People have bought property here. They want to earn profit accordingly. Such programs are being organized. We oppose it. Meat and liquor will now be allowed here. In such a situation, where will it go? It will go into the river Ganga, which is wrong. People should also be aware. Young social worker Bhardwaj ji came and told that this is a problem.. We immediately took action and came to meet SDM sahab. If there are officers like him, it is a good thing for our society.

Maiti Movement Chief Kusum Joshi said, we will not let this happen at all, it is wrong. We strongly oppose it. Meat, alcohol, obscene dancing, this is not right for our city. Go somewhere else ..we are not protesting but it is not right to happen here like this.
