Rishikesh: Under the Department of Ophthalmology, AIIMS Rishikesh, under the World Glaucoma Public Awareness Week, a poster competition for black cataract public awareness was organized for the purpose of public awareness. On the other hand, free black cataract test and examination of patients was done on the second day on Tuesday in the OPD of the eye department. It is worth noting that World Glaucoma Week is celebrated from 6th to 12th March, under which free glaucoma (black cataract) test, examination and treatment of patients is being done in OPD from last Monday by the Department of Ophthalmology at AIIMS Rishikesh. On this occasion the head of the department, Prof. Under the supervision of Sanjeev Kumar Mittal and Dr. Ajay Agarwal, a poster competition was organized to make public aware about black cataract. About 50 faculty, doctors, MBBS graduates, post graduate students and staff members participated in this competition organized in coordination with the senior doctor of the department, Dr. Vineeta Gupta. In which he made people aware of the symptoms, causes, prevention measures, damage caused by ignoring this disease through posters. While announcing the results, the coordinator of the competition, Dr. Vinita Gupta said that optometry student Jyoti Kushwaha got first position, junior resident Dr. Sneha Garg got second and optometry student Kundan got third position. While Dr. Shreya Mishra, Abhishek and Dr. Jyoti Kumari were given consolation prizes. In the jury of the competition, the Head of the Department of Surgery, Prof. Somprakash Basu, Dr. Pankaj Kandwal, Head of Department of Orthopedics, Dr. Rajnish Kumar Arora, Head of Department of Neuro Surgery, Dr. Ashutosh Tiwari of Department of Neurology were present. On this occasion senior doctors of eye department Dr. Ramanuj Samanta, Dr. Niti Gupta etc. were present.
