Minister was threatened over the phone and demanded Rs 70 lakh, 20 people detained in Rajasthan

Jaipur : The Rajasthan Police on Wednesday detained around 20 people for allegedly threatening Congress MLA and state cabinet minister Govind Ram Meghwal and demanding Rs 70 lakh. Meghwal is camping at a resort in Udaipur as part of the party’s plan to ward off poaching ahead of the June 10 Rajya Sabha elections.

According to the police, the man making the threat, posing as a member of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s Sopu gang, said that the entire family of the Congress MLA would be killed if the amount was not paid.The dreaded gangster Lawrence Bishnoi is currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail. She has been in the news since her alleged links to the recent murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.

The threatening call to Meghwal came from a number in Malaysia on Tuesday night.Police’s cyber team after probing the matter identified a person named Sunil Vishnoi, a native of Bikaner, following which a search operation was launched, in which 20 people were detained on Wednesday.

Sunil Vishnoi is currently working in Malaysia. Police investigation revealed that S.K. She has a Facebook page by the name of Meena.
