Lucknow : CM Yogi suspends Director of Secondary Education Vinay Pandey

Lucknow : UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has suspended Vinay Pandey, the then Director of Education (Secondary). He has been found prima facie guilty of negligence and apathy towards government work and non-compliance of government instructions. The Chief Minister’s Office said through a tweet that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has suspended Vinay Kumar Pandey, former director of the Secondary Education Department. He has been found guilty of paper leak in Ballia, non-discharge of official duties, negligence towards government work and non-compliance of government level instructions. He was at present the Director of the Department of Literacy, Urdu and Oriental Languages.

It is to be known that Vinay Pandey was removed from the post of Director of Secondary Education on April 21 and was posted as Director of Literacy Alternative Education, Urdu and Oriental Languages. The Uttar Pradesh Secondary School Board exams in 24 districts were canceled after question papers were leaked in Ballia last month. Chief Minister Adityanath had ordered the implementation of a stringent National Security Act in the case. The canceled exam was re-conducted on April 13.

He was removed from the Secondary Education Department on 21 April. The Chief Minister was angry with him because of Ballia’s paper leak scandal. According to sources, the departmental minister Gulab Devi was also not satisfied with the working style of Vinay Kumar Pandey. Vinay Pandey was given the charge of the post of Director in 2018. In the year 2021, he was promoted to director. For the last five years, the state government was successful in making the UP board a copyless image, but this year the paper leak incident happened. The paper was retaken in 24 districts. The Chief Minister took it seriously.

It is worth mentioning that Vinay Pandey was ordered to be sacked by the High Court in the year 2016 during the tenure of the SP government, but the then SP government did not implement it. Later in the year 2018, after the formation of the BJP government, the decision of his dismissal was implemented and he was sacked. On this Vinay Kumar Pandey took a stay from the High Court and the department reinstated him and handed over the charge of Director of Secondary Education Department.
