Dehradun: Police has arrested a Lieutenant Colonel in the case of murder of a girl in Raipur in Dehradun district. According to police sources, the girl Shreya Sharma was a resident of Kathmandu, Nepal and used to work in Siliguri in West Bengal. It was here that he met an army officer. The girl was pressurizing the army officer to marry her and for this she followed him to Dehradun.

Army Lieutenant Colonel Ramendu Upadhyay, resident of Premnagar, Panditwadi district, Dehradun, native of Mohalla Chandrashekhar Nagar, Rosa Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, was currently posted in Clementtown. The accused had become Lieutenant on departmental commission in the year 2010. In January 2020, he met Shreya Sharma, a girl of Nepali origin, at Dance Bar City Center Mall, Siliguri, West Bengal. Where he liked Shreya Sharma very much.
He became friends with Shreya in the very first meeting and after that a mutual relationship was formed between them. Both of them lived like husband and wife in Siliguri. When the Colonel was posted in Dehradun district, he brought Shreya along with him to Dehradun. When the Colonel’s wife came to know about this, she sent Shreya back to Siliguri after keeping her in the hotel for a few days. After a few days, he again called Shreya to Dehradun and after keeping her in a hotel for a few days, rented a flat in Clemsontown. For a few days, Shreya started pressurizing the Colonel for marriage. So the colonel planned to kill him.
On September 9, the Colonel took Shreya to a club on Rajpur Road to drink beer, where both of them drank alcohol at night. After this, both of them went from Maharana Pratap Chowk towards Thano Road via ISBT, Ghantaghar, Ballupur, Doiwala and then back from Doiwala. The Colonel parked his car on the forest road near Soda Saroli on Thano Road. Shreya, under the influence of alcohol, was demanding physical relations with the Colonel and started taking off her clothes.
The accused took out a hammer from the car and attacked him severely. After this, an attempt was made to burn his face with toilet cleaner. After disposing of Shreya’s body, he threw it on the roadside on Hathoda police station road. After that he came back and hid the car in the Clementown store and also hid Shreya’s belongings and clothes in the car. The SP Sarita Doval said, The army officer was already married and was under pressure from the woman to marry her, adding, “the army officer has confessed to the crime.
