J&K: Prof. Nilofer Khan becomes the first woman Vice-Chancellor of Kashmir University, will hold office for three years

Jammu & Kashmir : Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has appointed Professor Nilofer Khan as the first woman Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University. Pro. Nilofar is a professor in the Department of Home Science. He will be appointed for 3 years. In exercise of the powers vested under Section 12 of the Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act, 1969, I hereby appoint Manoj Sinha, Chancellor, University of Kashmir, Professor Nilofer Khan, Department of Home Science, as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kashmir, the order said.

‘The Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat said in a notification that the tenure of the Vice-Chancellor of Kashmir University would be three years. This period will be effective from the day he assumes charge. Terms and conditions will be notified separately. She will succeed Earth scientist Prof Talat Ahmed, whose three-year term ended in August 2021.
