Earlier, two other Congress leaders had also recently resigned as MLAs in the state.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Assembly elections are due in Goa early next year. Notably, the Congress last week announced its first list of eight candidates for the upcoming state elections and included Lourenco&#8217;s name. Lourenco, who represents Curtorim assembly constituency in South Goa district, submitted his resignation at the Speaker&#8217;s office on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2387\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2387\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2387\" src=\"https:\/\/nationalvani.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/alex-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2387\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alekso Lourenco<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Later, he also resigned from the Congress, sources said. Lourenco, who was the working president of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, did not comment on the matter.
