Uttarkashi : District Magistrate Abhishek Ruhela on Thursday took stock of the Yamunotri walking route as well as the arrangements related to the Yamunotri pilgrimage on site. The District Magistrate gave necessary directions to the concerned officials of the Water Institute, District Panchayat, Tourism etc. to improve the cleanliness, drinking water, passenger rest house and other arrangements on the Yamunotri foot road. Better efforts will be made to ensure that there is no inconvenience to the passengers due to the operation of mule, dandi-kandi.
The District Magistrate found all the arrangements correct during the inspection of toilets, drinking water etc. on the Yamunotri pedestrian street. While directing this, it should also be ensured to inspect the rate list, food items etc. in the shops from time to time. The District Magistrate, while clearly directing the Additional Chief Officer, District Panchayat, said that it should be ensured to completely ban the use of polythene at the main stops on the Yatra routes. I gave instructions to the concerned officers to make all necessary arrangements and instructed the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) to remove the trees lying on the way at the earliest.
The District Magistrate said that keeping in view the health arrangements, police deployment and convenience of the passengers near Bhairav temple, other arrangements should also be made on the pedestrian routes.
During the inspection, Superintendent of Police Pradeep Kumar Rai, Tehsildar Barkot Chaman Singh, District Tourism Officer Rahul Choubey, Executive Engineer Electrical Manoj Gusain and other officials related to travel arrangements were present.
