Uttarakhand MPs Distributing Constituency Funds in UP and Haryana

New Delhi/Dehradun :It has come to light that MPs from Uttarakhand are allocating MPLADS funds outside their constituencies. According to a report published in Hindustan News Paper. According to published reports, documents obtained through an RTI request, MPs from Uttarakhand have allocated crores of rupees for projects such as installing tube wells, constructing schools and community centers, and improving drainage systems in states like Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
While many villages in Uttarakhand are struggling with a lack of basic amenities, including water, the state’s MPs are spending a significant portion of their constituency development funds in other states. This has been revealed through a Right to Information (RTI) request. According to the documents obtained through the RTI, MPs have allocated ₹1.28 crore for projects such as installing tube wells, constructing schools and community centers, and improving drainage systems in states like Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
Tehri MP Leads in Generosity-
Tehri Garhwal MP Mala Rajya Lakshmi Shah is at the forefront of showing generosity towards other states. Shah has given special attention to Agra district in Uttar Pradesh. She allocated a total of ₹1 crore for this district in the financial year 2024-25. This included projects related to footpaths, walkways, and drinking water. Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal allocated ₹25 lakh for schools, colleges, and community centers in Haryana.
Tarun Vijay’s Allocated Funds Now Released
The funds sanctioned during the tenure of former Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Vijay (2010-16) were allocated on December 10, 2025. He had sanctioned ₹3 lakh for drainage and roads in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Almora-Pithoragarh Lok Sabha MP Shows Generosity in Nainital-
Almora Lok Sabha MP Ajay Tamta has shown generosity towards Nainital district, which is outside his parliamentary constituency. He sanctioned ₹5 lakh on June 27, 2025, for the construction of rooms and halls in schools and colleges there.
It happened due to Exemption Due to Change in Rules-
The freedom to spend funds in other states has become possible due to changes in the rules. According to a letter from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation dated August 13, 2024, amendments have been made to the PM Fund expenditure guidelines. Now, MPs can recommend development projects anywhere in the country. The maximum limit for this is 50 lakh rupees in a financial year. Tehri MP Mala Rajya Lakshmi Shah said that people from Uttarakhand live all over the country. Some people had approached her with their needs, and some projects have been approved. The development of Tehri is her priority, and most of her funds are spent there.
