    Dehradun : According to police, on 2/3/2026, the complainant, Pushpa Devi, wife of the late Suresh Pundir, a resident of Bhojawala Vikasnagar, Dehradun, filed a petition at the Vikasnagar police station, stating that in the evening, some unknown individuals arrived at her home in vehicle number UK-07-FS 4482 and a motorcycle, forcibly entered, assaulted her son, Shakti Pundir, and forced him into the vehicle. They kidnapped him and took him with them. After some time, they called him from an unknown number and demanded Rs. 1 lakh in exchange for releasing his son back home. On the basis of the complaint given by the plaintiff, a case was immediately registered in Kotwali Vikasnagar under FIR No. 63/2026 Section- 140(2)/115(2)/333 BNS.

In view of the seriousness of the incident, on the instructions of SSP Dehradun, different police teams were immediately formed in Kotwali Vikasnagar. The formed police team inspected the spot and collected information about the accused from the CCTV cameras installed nearby and activated the informer system by doing investigation/search. Also, while gathering information about the vehicle used in the incident and the owner of the vehicle, on the night of 02/3/2026, the kidnapper Shakti Singh was recovered safely from Vikasnagar area and 05 accused involved in the incident were arrested. The arrested accused are cunning criminals who identify drug addicts and claim to be associated with religious organizations and extort ransom from them by threatening to send them to jail and blackmailing them through other means.

On 02-03-2026 also, the accused forcibly entered the house of the said youth and claiming to be associated with a religious organization and falsely accusing the youth of drug trafficking, took him away in their car saying that they would hand him over to the police, and after some time, demanded a ransom of Rs. 1 lakh from his family in exchange for releasing him.

01- Vikas Vairogi, son of Satpal Vairogi, resident of Punjabi Bagh, Hakikat Nagar Police Line, Saharanpur, Police Station Sadar, District Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, age 35 years.
02- Neeraj, son of Madan, resident of Maikota, Police Station Nagar, District Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, age 34 years.
03- Praveen, son of Pritam Singh, resident of Ward No. 3, Pahadi Gali, Vikasnagar, District Dehradun, age 44 years.
04- Sachin, son of Shanti Prasad, resident of Lane No. 3, Adarsh ​​Colony Line, Jeevangarh, Kotwali Vikasnagar, District Dehradun, age 31 years.
05- Naveen, son of Mahendra Singh, resident of Village Danda, Ward No. 15, Dakpatthar, Kotwali Vikasnagar, District Dehradun, age 27 years.
