The Kerala Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution appealing to the central government to change the name of the state. The state government requested to officially change the name from Kerala to Kerala. This is the second time the state assembly has passed this resolution. Earlier, the Union Home Ministry had suggested making some technical changes after reviewing the earlier proposal. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan presented the proposal in the assembly. Vijay wants the central government to change the name of the southern state from Kerala to Keram in all the languages ​​included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of the country.

This demand to change the name has been raised earlier as well. This is the second time the state assembly has passed a resolution demanding a change in the name of the state. In August last year also, a similar resolution was passed unanimously and sent to the Center.
