Rishikesh/Cascais/Portugal: The 10th Global Forum of United Nations Alliance of Civilizations was organised on the theme ‘United for Peace: Restoring Trust, Reshaping the Future’. This year, the Forum celebrated two decades of dialogue and cooperation, with participation from world leaders and dignitaries. The Forum is held every two years, and this time it marked its 20th anniversary and 10th summit.Parmarth Niketan’s Sadhvi Bhagwati Saraswati addressed two special sessions on behalf of India at the 10th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations. The event was attended by President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa (Portugal), UN Secretary-General António Guterres, His Majesty Don Felipe (King of Spain), Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Under-Secretary-General of the #UN #Nations and High Representative for UNAOC Miguel Angel Moratinos, and several other former Presidents and Prime Ministers. This year the Forum focused on the protection of religious sites – the protection of their respective sacred places of worship. Sadhvi Bhagwati Saraswati shared her views in this keynote session. It is known that in the last summit held in Fez, Morocco two years ago, she also addressed the main session. The objective of the conference was to promote dialogue between different cultures and religions, ensure the security of religious places, and re-establish peace, trust and cooperation. Through this event, global leaders reiterated their dedication towards peace and harmony in the society. Sadhvi Bhagwati Saraswati participated in the main opening ceremony of the forum and expressed her insightful thoughts filled with Indian culture, Sanatan Dharma and #Indian knowledge-science.
Sadhvi Bhagwati said in her address, ‘The protection of religious places is the foundation of our society which provides us ideological nourishment. The roots of Sanatan Dharma and culture are deeply settled in the principles of tolerance, harmony and compassion. We have to move forward adopting these principles. Protection of religious places is not just a duty but also a respect for our spiritual and cultural heritage. He further said, Indian tradition and Sanatan tradition have always tried to find constitutional solutions and this nation is moving forward on the same principles. In fact, constitutional solutions provide security and stability. Sanatan Dharma teaches us to respect every living being, every human being and every place. Our holy places are not only symbols of our religious faith and belief, but they are also the identity of our civilization and culture, so their protection is not only our responsibility but should also be our aim. We should ensure the sanctity and security of these holy places. We have to unite and make organized efforts to protect these places and ensure that these places remain safe for our future generations and through these places our ancient knowledge tradition, faith, rituals and culture remain alive and awakened.
She appealed, let us all take a pledge together that we will protect these holy places and promote peace, harmony and humanity in the society. This is not just a religious duty but it is an important step for the security of our society and future. With every step we take, we can move towards a prosperous and harmonious society. President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa said in his inaugural address, this forum provides us a unique opportunity to share our ideologies and unite to present a message of peace and harmony to the world. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in his address, ‘Two decades of dialogue and cooperation have taught us that development is not possible without peace and security. We must protect our common heritage and make joint efforts to keep all religious places safe. The forum concluded with a grand ceremony in which leaders and representatives of different countries shared their views and reiterated their commitment for the future. The message given through this event is that through dialogue and cooperation, we can build a peaceful and harmonious society. This year’s Global Forum is not only a symbol of two decades of dialogue and cooperation, but it is also a resolution of a new direction for the future of our society which has shown that if we make united efforts, we can take our society in the direction of peace, security and harmony. The 10th United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Global Forum-2024 was organized in the city of Cascais, Portugal.
