Rishikesh: Under the Mission Smile campaign from March 6 in AIIMS, free operations of congenital cleft lip and palate of children and adults will be done

Rishikesh: Under the Mission Smile campaign in the Department of Plastic Medicine of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS Rishikesh, free operations of congenital cleft lip and palate of children and adults will be done. Under this four-day camp, starting from Wednesday, 60 children and youths registered at AIIMS Hospital will undergo surgery.

It is worth noting that AIIMS Rishikesh has been running Mission Smile campaign since the year 2016. Under which free operation is done for the patients suffering from cleft lip and cleft palate inside the mouth. In collaboration with  BHEL Haridwar, children and adults suffering from congenital cleft lip and cleft palate inside the mouth will be operated free of cost. Dr. Vishal Mago, Head of the Department of Plastic Medicine of the Institute and Dr. Devrati Chattopadhyay told that 320 patients have been successfully operated since 2016 in AIIMS Institute, all these patients are living their personal life in a better way.

Mission Smile is an 80G- and FCRA-registered medical charitable trust, which provides free surgery services to make the lives of babies born with cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities happy. The organization is working dedicatedly towards this campaign. The organization has provided free medical treatment to more than 61,000 cleft lip and cleft palate patients since 2002 under Mission Smile. AIIMS Rishikesh is associated with this organization since the year 2016 and is engaged in the service of such patients.

Mission Smile has conducted more than 110 medical missions in India so far under this mission. Under the CSR initiative of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) at AIIMS Rishikesh from April 6 (Wednesday) to April 9-2022, 60 children, youth and others registered under Mission Smile will undergo free surgery for cleft lip, cleft palate. These include patients from states like Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh etc. In this medical mission, the Department of Plastic Medicine, Anesthesiology, Paediatrics, Dentistry, Speech Therapy and Nursing staff will work together as a team at AIIMS Rishikesh.
