Rishikesh : The National Newborn Week was celebrated under the joint aegis of the College of Nursing and Neonatology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS Rishikesh, with various activities with emphasis on “Safety, Quality Nutritional Care: Every Newborn’s Right to Birth”. Various programs were organized under the supervision of Professor and Head of the Department of Neonatology at AIIMS Hospital Campus under National Newborn Week Sriparna Basu, Associate Professor Dr. Poonam Singh, College of Nursing Principal Xavier Belsial, Nursing In-charge Shenoy. MBBS and Nursing students participated in the poster competition organized on this occasion. During the week, brainstorming and quizzes were organized for the nursing officers of the institute on the care of premature newborns.Simultaneously, an exhibition based on myths and various facts related to newborn babies was organized for the general public under public health awareness program in the OPD area under the theme “Essential Newborn Care” in the hospital premises.
In which the general public was warned about the necessary care of the newborn, breastfeeding, the dangers to the newborn babies. Organizing Coordinators Dr. Malar Kodi, Rupinder Deol, Prasuna Jelly, Nursing Tutors Sharmila Jayrani.J, Rashmi Negi, Meenakshi, Renu etc. participated in the week-wide program.
