Representatives of many countries reached AIIMS Rishikesh to get information about the infrastructural arrangements, health services provided by the institute and administrative functioning


Rishikesh: A high delegation from various countries associated with the field of engineering and management visited AIIMS Rishikesh on Monday as part of a training program to understand the structural and administrative arrangements of the institute. During this, the executive director of the institute told the team that AIIMS will soon work towards promoting medical tourism. The team of foreign representatives who arrived from the Indian Institute of Public Administration, Delhi on Monday understood the intricacies of the infrastructural arrangements of AIIMS Rishikesh, the health services provided by the institute and the administrative functioning. He got to know closely about the difficulties and challenges faced in the construction of a big institute, its structural arrangements and its operation and obtained information about it from senior officials of the institute.

The team also took a round of the institute’s telemedicine department, skill lab, college of nursing, hospital premises, ICU area, operation theatre, trauma centre, AYUSH department, Milat café and hostel area etc. and got to know closely about the operations of the institute. Executive Director of AIIMS, Professor Dr. Meenu Singh told the team members that the health facilities at AIIMS are being continuously developed and a separate transplant division will soon start functioning in the hospital. He informed that the institute is also preparing a plan in the field of medical tourism. People coming to Rishikesh in future will be able to avail this facility. About the engineering department of the institute, Executive Director Prof. Meenu Singh told the team that there is a biomedical division working under this department, which does the maintenance and repair of various equipment. While giving information to the team members, he enumerated the benefits of coarse grain food items being provided in the Milat Café of the institute and told how coarse grains are beneficial for health.
Delegations from different countries held a meeting with AIIMS officials and obtained necessary information through extensive discussion regarding various activities of the institute. The team included ASO of Indian Institute of Public Administration. Professor and Dr. Kusum Lata, Dr. Pawan Taneja, Dr. Roma Mitra and representatives from countries like Mauritius, Philippines, Tanzania, Uganda, Fiji, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Indonesia, Kenya, Jamaica, Ethiopia etc. were included. During the AIIMS visit, Dean Academic in-charge of the institute, Prof. Shailendra Handu, Deputy Director (Administration) Lieut. Colonel Amit Parashar, Head of the Department of CFM, Prof. Vartika Saxena, Sub Dean Dr. Vandana Dhingra, DMS Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Dr. Narendra Kumar, Dr. Madhur Uniyal, Dr. Pooja Bhadauria, Public Relations Officer Sandeep Kumar Singh, PPS Vineet Kumar Singh, Rajeev Gupta etc. many officials were present.
