Punjab : BSF Encounter with Pak Smugglers: 47 Packets of Heroin, Four AK-47 and China made Pistol Recovered

Gurdaspur: Pakistani smugglers who came to the Gurdaspur Indo-Pak border leaving consignments of heroin and weapons on the border, had an encounter with the Border Security Force (BSF). One BSF jawan has been injured in the encounter. At the same time, Pakistani smugglers fled leaving behind a consignment of weapons and heroin. After the encounter, the BSF launched a search operation in the area at night itself. According to the information received, the encounter took place around 5 am on Friday.

During the search, BSF recovered 47 packets of heroin, 7 small packets of opium, one Norinco China made pistol and two magazines, .30 caliber 44 rounds, 4 AK 47, 7.62 caliber 74 rounds, 1 Pietro Beretta 9 mm Italian pistol, one . Magazines and rounds of 12, 9 mm were recovered, which have been confiscated. BSF jawan head constable Gyan Singh noticed some movement in front of barbed wire near the check post located at Chandu Wadala village of Gurdaspur. When he opened fire while being alert, Pakistani smugglers also fired from the other side. The head constable was injured in this.

Hearing the sound of bullets, other jawans also reached the spot and took charge. Firing took place between the two sides for a long time. Then the smugglers fled after seeing the opportunity. At the same time, Gyan Singh was immediately taken to the nearest government hospital, from where he has been referred to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar. However, his condition is now said to be stable.
