Rishikesh: Patients will now also get the facility of PET scan in AIIMS, Rishikesh. Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Shri Pratap Rao Jadhav on Wednesday formally inaugurated the PET scan investigation health facility at AIIMS Rishikesh. Describing the PET scan facility as a milestone for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer disease, he said that this facility is especially beneficial not only for Uttarakhand but also for the people of Uttar Pradesh and other adjoining states. AIIMS Rishikesh is the first government health institution in Uttarakhand where this facility has been started. On this occasion, he also inaugurated the AYUSH library and telemedicine services of the department in the AYUSH department and said that AYUSH is the ancient medical system of India, the central government formed under the leadership of Modi ji in the year 2014 has given this medical system a distinct identity in the world.

The launch of the state-of-the-art PET-CT (PET Scan) facility represents a transformational advancement in the diagnostic imaging capabilities of the Institute. The multi-functional facility is equipped with a state-of-the-art PET-CT system that integrates Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Computed Tomography (CT) to provide a multi-faceted diagnostic capability for the deadly disease cancer.

Inaugurating the facility at AIIMS Rishikesh, Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) and Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Shri Pratap Rao Jadhav termed it as a boon for the treatment of cancer patients. He said that the launch of this facility will be of great benefit in advancing healthcare and cancer diagnosis in oncology, neurology, cardiology and many other areas.

On this occasion, Prof. Meenu Singh, Executive Director of the Institute said that the Institute is dedicated to advancing healthcare through innovation, education and patient-centric services. He described the PET-CT (PET Scan) facility as a world-class healthcare facility and said that our doctors are now empowered with an extraordinary imaging tool for diagnosing cancer disease which will greatly improve clinical outcomes. On this occasion, he explained in detail about the healthcare facilities being provided by the institute and the progress of the institute.

Prof. Manishi L. Narayan, Head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine, described it as a state-of-the-art technology-based healthcare facility for cancer patients. She said that this facility is also a ray of hope for those who have full hope of recovery despite suffering from cancer. She informed that the state-of-the-art PET-CT (PET-CT) facility has been designed to bring revolutionary changes in diagnostic imaging and raise patient care to unparalleled standards. On this occasion, the Union Minister of State also inspected the preparations made by AIIMS for the treatment of the injured of the disaster in Uttarkashi including emergency services in the trauma center of the institute. Along with this, he also gave necessary guidelines to the AIIMS administration in this regard.

In the program organized under the supervision of Dr. Jayanti Pant, Dean Research Prof. Shailendra Handu, Medical Superintendent Prof. B. Satya Shri, Dean Academic in charge Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Mittal, Chief Engineer Lt. Col. Rajesh Juyal along with many doctors, faculty members, institute officials, employees and medical and nursing students were present.

Union Minister of AYUSH (Independent Charge) Shri Pratap Rao Jadhav on Wednesday also formally inaugurated the Sushruta Gyan Setu Library and Tele Consultancy facility for AYUSH Health Services in the AYUSH Department of AIIMS. Head of AYUSH Department Dr. Monica Pathania and Senior Medical Officer Dr. Srilay Mohanty said that more than 500 books related to Integrated Medicine have been made available in the library of AYUSH Department. Senior Library and Information Officer of the Institute Sandeep Kumar Singh, Dr. Rahul Katkar, Dr. Shweta Mishra etc. were present on this occasion.
