New Delhi : The court has reconsidered the death sentence given to 8 Indian Navy officers in Qatar. Qatari court has reduced the punishment of Indian officials. India’s Foreign Ministry said that the death sentence has been reconsidered and reduced by the court there. However, details of the judgment are yet to come.

The Indian Foreign Ministry said that the death sentence of 8 Navy officers has been converted to imprisonment by the Qatar Court. We are in close contact with the legal team as well as family members to decide on the next steps. Our Ambassador to Qatar and other officials were present at the Court of Appeal today along with family members. We have stood with them since the beginning of the case and will continue to provide all consular and legal assistance. We will also continue to raise this matter with the Qatari authorities.
