Kathmandu/New Delhi: former PM of Nepal, KP Sharma Oli has reacted for the first time after resigning from the post of Prime Minister amid violent protests in Nepal. In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 10, Oli revealed that he is currently in the Shivpuri barracks of the Nepal Army. Oli has not given up anti-India rhetoric even after leaving power and this time he has also targeted India for removing him from the post. Oli said that he lost power because he ‘opposed the birth of Lord Rama in Ayodhya.’

The ousted Prime Minister of Nepal also said that if he had not raised the issue of Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura, he would have remained in power. Nepal makes these places, which have historically been a part of India, its territory. KP Sharma Oli, through his statement, refuted the reports which claimed that he had fled the country. Oli said that he is in Shivpuri, located north of Kathmandu. Oli further said, ‘If I had compromised on these things, I could have chosen many easy paths and got many benefits. If the map of Nepal including Limpiyadhura was not sent to the United Nations, or if I had let others decide for me, my life would have been very different. But instead I gave everything to the state.’ Oli said that position and prestige never mattered to him.
KP Sharma Oli resigned on Tuesday after violent protests by Gen-Z. Nepal’s youth had been protesting against corruption for a long time. These protests were sparked by the Oli government’s decision to ban social media platforms and protesters took to the streets of the capital on Monday. During this, the police used force, in which at least 19 people died. By late night, the Oli government withdrew the decision to ban social media platforms to do damage control but it could not calm the anger of the youth. On Tuesday, Gen-Z protesters took over the capital and set fire to major buildings including Parliament, Rashtrapati Bhavan and Supreme Court. President Ram Chandra Paudel and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli were evacuated by the army. Finally, seeing the pressure increasing, Oli sent his resignation to the President.
