Ludhiana : One person killed, 5 injured in explosion in Ludhiana District Court premises, CM Channi visits at the spot

Ludhiana :  One persons was killed and 5 others were injured in an explosion at the district court complex in Punjab’s Ludhiana city. The court complex is located adjacent to the district commissioner’s office.

Police said the blast took place in the washroom on the second floor at around 12.2 pm. Not many people were present at the time of the blast due to the lawyers’ strike. One of the injured has been identified by advocate RS. Police have cordoned off the area and the court premises have been evacuated.

The blast was so strong that the surrounding walls were damaged and window panes were broken. Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said that he would reach Ludhiana soon. Channi was quoted as saying, “There has been an explosion in Ludhiana. I have completed a meeting and I will be going to Ludhiana soon.” He said that the culprits will not be spared. He said that since elections are near in the state and the government is alert about such incidents.

Former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh said that the police should get to the bottom of the matter. Amarinder Singh tweeted, “The news of the blast in Ludhiana Court Complex is disturbing. Sad to learn about the death of two people. Praying for the recovery of the injured. Punjab Police must get to the bottom of it. “
